Starting Average Jo Photography was never simply about building a business. For me, it's about sharing my creativity and passion with others while creating something truly meaningful. Every photograph is more than just an image; it's a memory, a feeling, a story that can be cherished for a lifetime.

One of my favourite parts of being a photographer is meeting new people and hearing their stories. Every family, every couple, every celebration is unique, and I love creating an experience that reflects who you are. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, have fun, and walk away with photographs that feel genuine, timeless, and unmistakably you.

Photography captured my heart when I was young, and it has never let go. To this day, I'm still in awe of photography's incredible ability to preserve memories, celebrate milestones, and bring people together.

Where it started…

My photography journey started back in Year 8 at high school, where I fell in love with film photography. For two years I learned the art of shooting on film and developing every photograph by hand—a process that taught me patience, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the craft.

Interestingly, Average Jo Photography began almost by accident.

A close friend asked if I'd take some family photos for her. I adored photographing her daughters, and the entire experience reminded me why I'd fallen in love with photography in the first place. When I delivered the gallery, she called me straight away and said something I'll never forget: "This isn't just a hobby anymore—you need to share your talent with the world."
